Website Best Practices For Google Ads

What are a few Website Best Practices For Google Ads

Over the past few years, Google Ads management has transitioned into not only account management, optimization, and lead generation—but landing page/web development.

Google has even made efforts to capitalize on the use of landing pages by introducing Google Optimize.

This powerful tool allows for a clean environment to conduct landing page testing enabling you to experiment with different ways of delivering your content. It facilitates three types of testing A/B testing, multivariate testing, and redirect tests. More on this in a later post, as this is an incredible free tool that Google offers users.

Website best practices come with the territory when a business pursues generating new customers directly from their website. As Google puts it “Your website is your store window.”

That being said—it’s one of the many facets that a professional search engine marketer should have some experience in. A plague that impacts all business websites is not having a few simple touchpoints set up on their website in order to track prospective customers.

My objective in this post will be to cover a few of those simple touchpoints that make for a great converting website!

3 Website Best Practices For Google Ads

Honestly, missing the mark when it comes to having a high converting website/landing page is a pain point for all businesses. I just got off a call with a potential client this week—reviewing some of these topics:

  1. Keep the call to action (CTA) clear, concise, and above the first fold. Make sure you are doing your best to match your customer’s intent. Basically, answer the question they have not even asked yet, and be that solution for them!
  2. Less is more in some cases, keep your form submission above the first fold and make it short. Keep the necessary fields to under four. And be sure the questions are simple and formal. I have seen conversion increases of 25% on pages that have made their forms shorter. It’s really a balancing act because although we want to vet as much as possible we don’t want our potential customers to leave due to something as simple as just asking the wrong questions.
      1. PRO TIP- test out using place holders in the fields and avoid manual entry when possible.
  3. This one is super simple—please have your landing page redirect to a THANK YOU PAGE once a form has been submitted.
      1. PRO TIP- You will thank me later when tracking conversion, but just as important—it gives you the opportunity to re-engage with your customers and offer them a suggested follow-up time or just saying thank you for submitting a form. 😀
